Since our last get together Marlenee and I have celebrated our 48th anniversary and the City of Federal Way purchased our business property at 336th and Pacific Hwy.  I am now working from home with several hospitals designing video distribution systems and repairing their cable systems, tv's, and imaging displays.  Harborview Medical Center in Seattle is where I spend the most time.

Marlenee volunteers at Wildwood elementary school here in Federal Way and says she has over 500 grandchildren.  She is loving it and I love what I am doing as well.  My school years ( 1st through 12th) in Federal Way school are very important to me and I will be glad to see all of you again

Will get into Seattle on Saturday morning, and look forward to the
reunion in the evening!   It was fun seeing so many one decade ago.
I
had become widowed the year before, right after being elected to
the Alaska State House.  Have continued being re-elected every-other
year.  Series of circumstances have led to spectacular experiences.
In 2003 I took on and  became a breast cancer veteran.  Immediately
founded the Alaska Legislative Health Caucus, with ongoing frequent
health studies, forums and reports; began multiple trips to
communities around Alaska learning about our distant, diverse
community health systems (Have gone to 64 communities so far.)

Four  years ago I got a call, for the first time in 47 years, from the
fellow I met at a music camp in 1959, and a few months later brought
to the Federal Way Homecoming Dance.  We married after Sid Atwood
moved up to Alaska from Oregon, in 2007.  Many delightful adventures
since then.  Sid has been super in backing up my public servant
duties and has added to the study of villages and towns from his
background in facility and utility engineering.

Last year we used  our canoe for transportation to 7 villages along the Yukon River  system.  Two pictures are attached, one with Sid and I, and one from  the 500 mile canoe trip  in July, 2009.
See you very soon!
Sharon.

Florida

I so wanted, and had planned on, coming to this reunion, but have you ever noticed how life seems to get in the way of your plans?  I missed the 20th because my husband was dying at the time (Sept. 1980) and now I am getting married again (Sept. 14).

In thinking about this bio, it occurred to me how few ties I have with Federal Way.   I left 30 years ago for Oregon.  During that time I graduated from college with a BA in Psychology and a MA in Education.  I taught for 20 years (High School Social Studies), never remarried and finally retired to the Gulf Coast in Florida in 2000.

I met a man from Philadelphia while in Florida and after 9 years have finally agreed to marry him.  A big step for me.  He is younger than I and will retire next year.  I own a condo on the Intercoastal Waterway (just outside of Destin and near Pensacola) and a 40 foot motor coach.  We plan to go full time in the RV for a while and travel the highways and byways of North America starting then.  (baring unforeseen hurricanes and oil spills…lol)

I have been blessed with relatively good health and a kind aging process (so far anyway). I have two wonderful grandchildren (boy, age 14  and girl, age 8).  I regret I don’t get to see them very much being so far away.  I read constantly now, and enjoy fine dining, wonderful wines and arguing politics with my ultra conservative husband to be….

I feel so sad that I am missing this event.  How enjoyable it would have been to see you-all, visit the school, the town.

Best regards to all,

Jane

This is my first reunion for the Federal Way Class of 1960.  I started first grade at the old and only Federal Way School and continued through seventh grade.  Part of the fifth grade was at the new Lakeland School.  My parents bought a "mom and pop" grocery store at the foot of Milton hill, so I ended up graduating instead with Fife High's class of 1960.

After graduating from Fife I went to art school at Cornish in Seattle, studying graphic arts.  I married my brother, Burr's, best friend, Gerry Neil, also a Fife grade from the 1961 class.  Working as a graphic artist, I helped Gerry complete his education and become an attorney.  Along the way, we were blessed with 2 sons and a daughter, and again we were blessed that they all live near and we get to see our grandkids, boys 5 and 8 and girl 4, often.

When our youngest, our daughter, left for college in Bellingham, I had the empty next syndrome.  So, off to floral school at Clover Park Tech. College.  Another channel for my artistic talents.  I worked for several shops and had my own floral business, "Strawberry Hill Floral", for a while.  Over the years, I had a chance to take several water color workshops, including one with Charles Reid.

Gerry is now semi-retired and we have a new baby, her name is "Penguin" and she is a boat!  We're enjoying the new adventure on our beautiful Puget Sound.

Life is good! My only change would be to marry Gerry a few years earlier.  This year will be number 44.

Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces after 55 years.  We do have a great class.
