In May of 2002 Mike and I put everything we owned on a 29' truck, together with four cars and two cats, and moved to San Carlos, CA. We loved San Carlos and lived there for 18 months, but decided we didn't want to be greeters at Wal-Mart at 84 to try to afford to stay there. We moved to Modesto in October, 2003, and bought a house the following April when our house in Gig Harbor sold.

California has been kind to us.  In Modesto, Mike found his dream car, a 1930 Model A 5-window coupe.  We both have had very good jobs.  Mike has remained in construction of all kinds. I got hired in hospital construction management. My company has just recently finished managing the building of the new Mercy Hospital in Merced, CA.  At the moment I am on unemployment but will go back to work as soon as my boss and I can find another hospital job close by. My health is excellent, my brain still works, and I love the work I have been doing.  I'm going to stay working as long as I can.

California was very hard hit by the foreclosure debacle and housing prices are lower than they have been in years.  We decided to turn our house into a rental and see what we could find in a newer home.  We moved to Riverbank this May.  Once again, life was kind to us. We got our new pool completely finished 6 days before the pool company declared bankruptcy and closed their doors.

All of our kids are married.  Kirty lives in Lakewood and is on a management track at Good Sam Hospital in Puyallup.  Her husband, Steve, is an electrician among many other skills. Doug lives in Royersford, PA, with his wife, Statia, and has a boy 3 and a girl 1.  Mike, Jr. lives in Lakewood with his wife, Charlotte.  Jr. is as big a car nut as his dad!

Come see us.  The Welcome mat is always out.

"Why be merely serious when there is so much to enjoy in life."

Tacoma, Washington

I worked as a Hospice RN last 10 years of my nursing career.  I retired in 2004. My HS sweetheart and I will celebrating our 50th anniversary in December of 2011. (I've enjoyed re-reading all the messages to Jim and I in my Annual) Our 2 children live in the area.  We have been traveling, volunteering, dancing and actively involved in politics.  We are enjoying our retired life and all the choices it gives us!  Would love to reconnect with my high school friends.

AH!!  The last ten years

I decided to retire at 60 (that, I think was a good decision, so far).  I wanted to travel while I could still walk & talk.

So here we go!  I took my first cruise to Eastern Caribbean.  That was so much fun that I went on four more.  (2) Western Caribbean, (3) Panama Canal, (4) Eastern Caribbean Again; (5) Mexican Riviera.  They were all great trips.

But, the most memorable trip was to Denmark and Sweden in July of 2006 during the World Cup of Soccer.  My grandson (Wyatt) was on a soccer team from Federal Way that made the trip.  I had to twist my art to go with him.  We were gone just about 3 weeks.  It was a youth tournament in both countries.  His team was U-14.  I won't bore you about the great time we had.

Well, that just about wraps up the last ten years, except in September or sooner I am planning a cruise to Alaska. (2010)
